Brewer’s Notes and Ingredients

Sunshine Wheat is a great beer for trouncing thirst. Yet, it has a depth of character that inspires a quiet moment’s reflection. Sunshine Wheat swirls in the mouth with ripples of coriander and orange peel tartness, settling nicely into a tranquil sea of apple and honey tones. A filtered wheat beer, Sunshine offers a crisp, refreshing alternative to heavier-bodied heffe-weizens.

The Tasting

Arrived in: Bottle

Served in: Tasting Glass

New Belgium Sunshine Wheat Beer was extremely thin bodied, almost like a Helles. I was expecting a bland beer for the shiny color and lack of aroma, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Its light weight, low carbonation, and sprinkle of citrus notes make Sunshine Wheat beer a very refreshing choice during the summer months.

Sunshine Wheat was also brewed with coriander (cilantro), but I did not pick that up in the taste. Only very mild citrus.

Out of the three sampled in the Folly Pack do far, this was the best of the bunch.

Final Score: 2.5/5

New Belgium Sunshine Wheat is one of many thirst quenching summer beers we have tried lately, and probably the most sessionable. Fans of slimmer bodied beer will definitely like it, as well as anyone who has trouble counting how many beers they’ve had. It goes down quick…
