It is brewed using premium two-row Pale malted barley, generous amounts of both Cluster bittering hops and Cascade finishing hops and our own special proprietary yeast strain.
Hops: Cluster bittering hops, Cascade finishing hops.
Malts: Pale malted barley.

The Tasting
Arrived in: Bottle
Served in: Pint glass
Blue Heron Pale Ale is a member of Mendocino Brewing Co’s “The Legend Collection”, along with their flagship Red Tail Ale, and Peregrine Pilsner.
This beer was not a legend, but somewhat disappointing. Knowing this company brews a quality product had me expecting more, but Blue Heron did not deliver.
It fell short with a lower level of hops than what I was expecting. I won’t say non-existent, but the brewer’s notes paint a much hoppier picture than what you taste.
This was a pale ale in the literal sense.
Final Score: 2.5/5
Average at best. But in fairness, I enjoyed Blue Heron more the second and third time I had a bottle out of the 6 pack.
