The Tasting

Arrived in: Bottle

Served in: Glass

Lately Newcastle has been releasing more seasonal / limited edition beer, and they have not been very good.

Their Founders Ale comes to mind, but luckily Newcastle Bombshell Blonde is a better effort than that one.

The top of the label says “A real British beauty.” And to that I say Newcastle is getting a little carried away describing their product. Or maybe they’re referring to the pin-up girl on the label.

Bombshell is light textured, and filled with big slow bubbles, leading to a wispy foam head when poured. This blonde ale smelled sweet, and tasted slightly metallic at first, until its sweeter finish kicked in.

Final Score: 2.5/5

Newcastle Bombshell is not a bad summer beer, but you can easily find better. The good news for Newcastle is they finally have a decent tasting special release in their lineup.
